 TESTIMONIALS

I have taken two online courses offered by the amazingly talented artist; Kathleen Gray. If you haven't seen her art work, or the art work of her husband Billy Gray, do take a moment to look. Their work is STUNNING!
I can't begin to describe how meaningful the courses were that I participated in. One course was called The Soul's Mythic Journey and the other was called The Third Hand. In the latter, we participants would complete a project in the initially blank booklets provided by Kathleen and then mailed to another participant. In this way the course was interactive and it was an incredibly inspiring experience to view the work of others.
I can't believe what came out of me.  I had no idea what was brewing, or what had been held captive, or was sound asleep within me but much was revealed as it spilled out during these courses. I anticipated every free moment I had to work on the assigned projects for each course. As much as these courses were a  creative endeavor, awakening artistic capabilities within me and learning fun techniques, the connection to and  touching of the soul were invaluable and inevitably  produced surprising blossoms from buried seedlings.
Kathleen Gray, a seasoned and expressive artist,  is also well versed in symbolism and dream interpretation. Her commentaries were not only insightful, but encouraging and deeply meaningful.
Two other women in my vicinity also participated in The Third Hand course. Their joy,  thrill, growth, and appreciation for this course enhanced my personal experience. What a delight it was to share our work and for my eyes and spirit to witness the beauty that surfaced from within them.
Transformational? Yes!
Healing? Yes!
Unique? In the extreme!
I would not hesitate for a moment to participate in any courses offered by Kathleen.
I am forever grateful to Kathleen. These courses were game changers. I now engage in creative pursuits on a regular basis and they are the highlight of many a day. How did I ever exist without the breath of  creativity? It adds a meaning  to my life unlike anything I could have imagined.
Kathleen, from the bottom of my heart and the greatest depth of my soul, I thank you so very much for all you have offered, and especially for serving as a catalyst to awakening what has become nothing less than essential.

LYRICAL ABSTRACTIONISM Part 1

Lyrical abstractionism is a poetic form of painting that relies heavily on the artist’s unspoken visual impressions. In this three part blog we will explore how lyrical abstractionism emerged and examples of Billy Gray’s approach to painting in this style.

LYRICAL ABSTRACTIONISM Part 2

In medieval times a conjurer was someone who produced spells by calling on the elements of earth, wind, and water. They were able to use spells that heal or strengthen. Summoning is the primary choice for conjurers. A conjurer can make an object magically appear out of thin air. Conjure is based on the belief that psychical and magical powers can be exercised in such a way that spells may be cast, enchantments made.

LYRICAL ABSTRACTIONISM Part 3

Billy says, “The work of Arshile Gorky had the strongest influence on me of all the modern painters. This led me to give homage to several of his works in paintings of my own. I feel Gorky was a much underrated champion and one of the top talents of his generation.” It is an inspirational reworking in the style of Gorky.

Frayed Knot

“Frayed Knot” is one of four pieces Billy painted in 2009, which include: “Brown Entropy” (Blog #2), “Cells”, “Introspection” (Blog #1),“Frayed Knot”. These were all painted in India in our small flat with the roof top.

Painting is a feeling, thinking, a material awareness of spirit, a sense of direct experience which transcends any intellectual method.
